Members of the V8 Supercars Commission met today following an incident involving Craig Lowndes in yesterday’s second race of the ITM 500 Auckland.

It agreed to increase tyre pressures for today’s race at Pukekohe Park Raceway from 17 to 18psi. Teams will also be required to start the race on soft tyres and must change tyres during refuelling.

V8 Supercars Sporting and Technical Director David Stuart said following yesterday’s tyre failure, it had considered all possible contributing factors.

“This is a fast circuit with high loadings and its bumps and kerbs are all contributing factors to tyre failure. To minimise that risk and ensure fair racing for all teams we have decided to make these changes for today’s race,” he said.
