Dick Johnson Racing has produced some of the most iconic liveries in the history of Australian Touring Car and V8 Supercars Championships. In recent years Queensland’s favourite team has rolled out the Tru Blue and Green’s – Tuf livery on their FG Falcons.

In 2014, a very special milestone will be celebrated. In 1994, Dick Johnson and great mate John Bowe steered the EB Shell – FAI Racing Falcon to a faultless win at Mt Panorama. The battle in the closing stages between Bowe and a young lad named Craig Lowndes has gone down in Bathurst history as one of the truly great battles.

After the 1994 race Dick had this to say, “In my mind there’s no question this was my best win there, and I know it’s the one I’ll remember as being something very special. I always felt we had the fastest car out there and the best overall package, but in the wet opening stages we couldn’t show the legs we knew we had.

“This year we really had it right!’ John Bowe added, “What a race..what a result! We could not have picked a better race to win. I have been with Dick for seven years now and this win stands out as something special, the best ever.”

So, it was an easy decision to celebrate the win with a retro livery for the 2014 Supercheap Bathurst 1000 race in October. And of course there will be a Johnson in the famous #17 Ford, with Steven stepping back into the seat alongside David Wall.

Naming right sponsor, Wilson Security has been right behind the 1994 livery plan and will see their brand linked for the second year with a DJR retro livery package. The 2014 inspired design was unveiled to the public today at DJR’s Headquarters in Queensland to an audience of over 7000 people.
