Right after the pre-season tests from Tuesday to Thursday at Oschersleben, the next commitment was waiting for the eight BMW drivers. From the Magdeburger Börde region, they travelled to the Canary Island Lanzarote where they worked – under the guidance of team doctor Riccardo Ceccarelli and his Formula Medicine team – on their fitness to be perfectly prepared for the DTM season kick-off, held at Hockenheim on 02nd/03rd May.
In disciplines such as cycling, kayaking, swimming, water polo, football and beach volleyball as well as in orienteering, the drivers’ physical strength has got the top priority. In addition, the DTM drivers are provided with valuable tips for the mental preparation for the 18 rounds of the season. “The training at Lanzarote is big fun,” said reigning DTM Champion Marco Wittmann. ”It’s exactly the right thing to clear your mind in the days prior to the season kick-off. You can feel that everybody in our team is fully focused. And I’m convinced that we will benefit from this training, over the course of the season.” DTM rookie Tom Blomqvist added: “This training programme is fantastic. It helps me getting to know my new BMW team-mates even better. The team spirit between us eight drivers is just incredible. We definitely will be in perfect form when standing on the starting grid for the first time this year, at Hockenheim.”
