Tom Blomqvist kept BMW on top on the second day of pre-season DTM testing at Hockenheim on Wednesday.

The Briton’s lap of 1m33.214s in the afternoon was a tenth up on the 1m33.330s that Audi driver Mike Rockenfeller had set by the end of an initially damp morning session.

Rockenfeller was third in the afternoon behind Audi stablemate Mattias Ekstrom.

His closest morning challengers had been a pair of BMWs – Marco Wittmann leading Antonio Felix da Costa.

Mercedes had a lower-key day, with Maximilian Gotz its lead runner in fourth in the afternoon and Lucas Auer eighth in the morning.

The morning session was disrupted by a red flag after Daniel Juncadella crashed his Mercedes in the pit entry. He was unhurt.
