Farfus, BMW Win Emotional FIA GT World Cup in Macau

Augusto Farfus has won the FIA GT World Cup in Macau following a dominant run in Sunday’s title-deciding race.

The Brazilian took his No. 42 Team Schnitzer BMW M6 GT3 to a XX-second win over the No. 888 GruppeM Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Maro Engel, delivering victory for Charly Lamm in his final race as team principal.

It came after Mercedes’ closest challenger, Raffaele Marciello, went straight into the barriers at Lisboa on Lap 5, after putting heavy pressure on the BMW in the opening moment of the 18-lap race.

Marciello finished 9th, only able to get by Alexandre Imperatori for position after his incident.

Farfus scored his sixth Macau main race win and first in GT competition at the Guia Circuit.

Edoardo Mortara completed the podium in third in the No. 1 Mercedes, ahead of the No. 912 Manthey Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R of Earl Bamber in fourth.

Robin Frijns made it four different GT3 manufacturers in the top-five, in his No. 66 Team WRT Speedstar Audi R8 LMS.
