BMW has formally unveiled its new-generation M6 GT3 car, Tuesday, at the Frankfurt Auto Show, ahead of the car’s competition debut early next year.
The M TwinPower turbo-engined car replaces the Z4 GT3 in customer competition worldwide, which will include the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and Blancpain GT Series.
Initially revealed in a camouflage livery early this year, the M6 GT3 car gone through extensive testing and development, culminating with last weekend’s Balance of Performance testing in Ladoux, to certify the car for competition in 2016.
Turner Motorsport has been announced as the first U.S. customer for the car, having ordered a pair of M6s for use in the WeatherTech Championship, as well as Pirelli World Challenge.
Longtime BMW partner Marc VDS, meanwhile, is expected to spearhead efforts in Europe, which is rumored to include the Blancpain GT Series.
Additional customers are expected for both in Europe and Asia, with the car potentially debuting at the 24 Hours of Dubai in early January.
