Scott Dixon will make his race debut behind the wheel of the Ford GT in next month’s Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, having been confirmed in the No. 67 Ford Chip Ganassi Racing entry alongside full-season drivers Richard Westbrook and Ryan Briscoe.

The reigning Verizon IndyCar Series champion took part in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season-opener in one of Ganassi’s Riley-Ford DPs, which have since been retired from competition.

Dixon has been tipped as one of the drivers that will complete the team’s four-car Ford GT effort at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year. Ford has yet to officially name three additional drivers it will need for the French endurance classic.

The American manufacturer, meanwhile, has also confirmed Sebastien Bourdais for Sebring, with the Frenchman rejoining Joey Hand and Dirk Mueller in the No. 66 car.

“It’s exciting to continue with Sébastien Bourdais at the 12 Hours of Sebring,” said Ganassi Managing Director Mike Hull.

“The addition of Scott Dixon to our Ford Performance GT lineup enhances the depth chart. To have six high-caliber drivers who unselfishly know how to share with each other supports the momentum for the next step in North America.

“Our culture is about drivers, who as teammates hand the car to the next as they would like to receive it.”

The team is testing at Sebring this week with both of its Ford EcoBoost-powered GT contenders, following a challenging debut at Daytona last month, plagued by electrical and gearbox issues.
