The Motul Honda Cup has received a boost with Honda New Zealand becoming an official partner of the popular one make series.

Honda New Zealand will support the growing class with a new CRZ Course and Safety car plus access to parts and expertise used widely on the racing cars.

The new CRZ Honda Cup Safety car will make its public debut at the forthcoming CRC Speedshow event, before becoming a working part of the Honda Cup winter and summer series.

“Motul Honda Cup has a nice synergy with CRZ’s “Play in the real world” slogan, which is what the organisers and drivers in the Honda Cup are doing in a great safe environment,” explained Graeme Meyer, Head of Marketing for Honda New Zealand.

“They are all great enthusiasts for Honda and racing and have worked hard to make their series thrive during difficult times globally for motorsport. We are pleased to be supporting a great race class.”

Series Director Alan Stewart was thrilled with the growing support for the popular class.

“The recognition and support we will receive from Honda New Zealand is huge news for us,” said Stewart.

“We have created the biggest one-make Japanese racing class in New Zealand and after a hugely successful debut summer season, we are expanding with a winter series in the South Island and continuing our rookie-focussed winter series in the North.

“We have major objectives for the Motul Honda Cup that focus on close, exciting and value for money racing and we could not do that if the basic product wasn’t top notch. Honda is famed for its reliability and performance as a brand and has a long and successful heritage in motorsport all over the world. To be waving the flag as an officially recognised Honda series is really a huge step forward for us.”

The next race meeting is round two of the North Island Winter Cup at Hampton Downs on 14/15 July.
