Entering the second season of their Driver Development Programme, ScorpionRacecars are excited to announce 17 year old  karter, Reid Harker, as the latest driver to join their programme for the 2013/14 NZ Formula First Championship season.

A relatively late starter in the world of motorsport, Reid’s rise through the ranks to compete with the best in New Zealand can be put down to his relaxed yet hard working and determined nature, he has racked up an impressive list of achievements, highlights of which include competing in the Junior Rotax World Finals at the Al Ain circuit in Abu Dhabi and more recently being selected for the MSNZ Elite Motorsport Academy class of 2013.

Reid will be joined by the team’s current development drivers, Jacob Smith and Taylor Cockerton, both drivers having already impressed many observers with their progress over the course of the previous season.

The ScorpionRacecars Driver Development Programme was established in 2012 with clear goals in mind.

  • To make the transition into motor racing as easy as possible for young drivers
  • Teach the fundamentals of setting up a racecar and racecraft
  • Prepare drivers for a future in motor racing

The programme provides a cost effective, professional, environment to further develop a skills base necessary to achieve in the higher levels of motorsport and is made possible with the support NZ Racer Magazine and Vortex Racewear.

The coming months will see Reid becoming acclimatised to the Scorpion Formula First chassis, with his NZ Formula First Championship debut at Taupo Motorsport Park in October.
