Opening night went from bad to worse for CRC Synergy Racing midget driver Brad Mosen yesterday after an unfortunate grid position and shabby weather played an influential role.
The show went on at Western Springs Speedway in Auckland despite heavy rain throughout the day and constant drizzle all evening.

“It was unfortunate we had to start off the back on that greasy track surface as it made it very difficult to pass,” said Mosen.
“You have to make the most of the early races in order to earn the vital points needed to start near the front of the feature.”
Heat two was a prettier sight for the Aucklander as he capitalised on a front row start to finish second behind current national champion Michael Pickens.
Forced to start the feature event from eleventh, Mosen played follow the leader on a track offering just one line around the pole.
A late spin summed up the night for the CRC Synergy Racing team, eventually finishing mid-pack.
“There were a few gremlins in the car with the left front brake not working at all, but it was just one of those races where nothing seemed to go right so that was unfortunate,” said Mosen.
The CRC Synergy Racing team will be back at Western Springs Speedway on November 17 for the Heritage Shield.
“There’s a lot we need to work on from last night so we will address that. Hopefully we get a bit more luck with the grid draw in those heats as well so we can get some quality results and race these guys properly, without relying on the track surface to determine how our night goes.”
