Aussie Kris Walton confirmed for entire 2014 V8 Ute Series

Australian ute racing ace – and early season championships leader – Kris ‘Killa’ Walton has been confirmed for the rest of the UDC V8 Ute series in New Zealand.

Walton was the dominant driver at the first round of the 2014 series at the new Highlands Motorsport Park in Cromwell, and mastered both the new circuit and some very challenging conditions to take three race wins from three. With sponsor Multispares now confirmed for the rest of the 2014 New Zealand series, Walton looks set to be a serious championship contender under the guidance of team owner Rod Dawson and experienced team manager Chris Berry.

Walton made successful – if sporadic – appearances in the series in 2013 and with one round win already under his belt, is looking forward to running all of the remaining rounds.

“Everyone in the team is stoked,” said Walton. “I’m really enjoying the racing in New Zealand and it keeps me nice and sharp for the series in Australia and vice versa. The Multispares Ford is a great ute and it’ll be great running a whole series to see how we can do. We have to thank the sponsor too, of course.”

Manager Berry confirmed that the sponsorship for the entire season of the ute was one part of a marketing package in New Zealand to broaden awareness of the Multispares brand throughout the country.

“Multispares is a relatively new name in New Zealand but its well-established in Australia and has been a partner of our three car team for some time,” added Berry. “The ute series on both sides of the Tasman really work for them as a way to get their name out and about, and in New Zealand’s case, it’s particularly important as they are a new brand there.”

Walton will start as a favourite at this weekend’s second round at Pukekohe where the UDC V8 Utes support the BNT V8 SuperTourers, then it’s just a short wait before Round 3 where the ute series in the support card for the ITM 500 Supercar round – also at Pukekohe.
