Marcus Armstrong (17, NZ, Prema Powerteam) won the 15th race of the ADAC Formula 4 at the Nürburgring and underlined his championship ambitions with his third win of the season. Julian Hanses (19, Hilden, US Racing) finished second with Enzo Fittipaldi (16, Brazil, Prema Powerteam), the grandson of twice-named Formula One World Champion Emerson Fittipaldi third. The overall leader Yuri Vips and Armstrong’s Prema Powerteam team mate missed the podium finishing fourth.

“The victory was very important before the final two rounds of the championship. It’s fantastic that I won here,” Armstrong said. “We had some problems that made the first two races very difficult. Fortunately we were able to recover the lost points in the third race. It will be a very close fight in the last race. But I am very confident that we can do it. ”

Armstrong had qualified 13th for the opening race of the round, finishing 10. Starting 10th for the second race he was only able to advance to eighth after the race was red flagged. Cédric Piro (19, Germany, Team Piro Interdental) spun off into the tyre stack in the first turn. The race was stopped under the red flag following the crash and was not restarted, as the crash barriers had to be repaired. Half points were awarded in view of the stoppage after only seven laps.

After a six-week break, the ADAC’s high-speed school will continue with the three races at the Sachsenring (15 to 17 September), before reaching the finish line of the season at the Hockenheimring (22 to 24 September).
