A top result has inspired young Aucklander Dominic Storey to bring in full-time V8 Supercar driver Dale Wood to co-drive with him in the BNT NZ SuperTourers endurance series.
The three-round endurance series, starting with the Rush Security Taupo 400 on September 27-28, forms the first section of the overall 2014-15 championship.

Storey, 24, was delighted with his performance at Pukekohe in April.

“My best result in BNT NZ SuperTourers came last time out – fifth, at the Pukekohe Supercar round,” he says.

“Obviously we want to start where we left off, which is why I’ve got someone with some SuperTourer experience as a co-driver, and he’s got a full-time

V8 Supercar campaign. He’s got plenty of seat time so we’re hoping to crack straight into the top five, perhaps a podium.
“He came over and did it with Foggy [Angus Fogg] last year. We’ve got him confirmed for the SG Fleet Falcon now; everything has come together at the last minute.”

Wood returned to full-time racing in the main Supercar championship this year after winning the Dunlop Development Series last season. He drives for the respected Brad Jones Racing team, which also includes Kiwi Fabian Coulthard, and his best finish this year has been a third placing.

He entered Supercars in 2007 and at one stage raced full-time for the Kelly team. He has also been in demand as a co-driver for the Australian endurance events.

Storey, who works as a driving instructor mainly at the Hampton Downs racetrack, has earlier contested the endurance series with Steven Richards and Mark Gibson.
