Coulthard’s comeback begins with searing Perth pace

V8 Supercars

Lockwood Racing’s Fabian Coulthard continued his searing pace this season, heading the field in two of the three practice sessions on the opening day of the Perth 400 today.

Coulthard was quick straight out of the box, striking the first blow of the race weekend with the fastest time on old tyres in the first practice session of round 5 of the V8 Supercar Championship.

In practice two he was third and then in final practice, most runners fitted a fresh set of soft race tyres and it was again the Lockwood Racing VF Commodore that headed the field.

“It was standard Perth out there. It’s not very grippy at the best of times. Our car seemed to respond quite well to how the track was this morning, even when the temperature came up, it was still good as well. It’s done everything we expected it to do – Perth being as grippy as it is. We had a pretty good day today, wasn’t outside of the top 5. Looking forward to qualifying tomorrow when it counts and hopefully get some race wins.”
