V8 Supercars

Wilson Security has increased its interests in V8 Supercars, today announcing its backing of both Dick Johnson Racing Falcons.

The company’s “extended commitment” comes ahead of this weekend’s Tasmania Microsoft Office 365 – so fans will be able to see the striking white liveries on-track.

The sponsorship arrived earlier this year in an eleventh hour deal prior to the Clipsal 500. Discussions after the Formula One Rolex Australian Grand Prix have seen the company extend its dealings with the iconic Queensland race team.

According to Wilson Security chief executive officer John McMellan, the focus is building a commercial plan around DJR and Wilson Security’s Queensland operations.

“On reviewing this we have decided there is an opportunity to extend our support and relationship on an interim basis… The aim is to link our DJR support directly with our Queensland business and measure the effectiveness of that,” McMellan said.

“The duration of that support will be reviewed based on the commercial and other initiatives we can achieve in our Queensland business by leveraging this support.

“This also ensures our main support and program built around David (Wall), Fabian (Coulthard) and Jason (Bright) at BJR (Brad Jones Racing) isn’t diluted or compromised.”

McMellan acknowledged the team still needed to find additional corporate support for the 2013 season, but offered the following comments: “Initially we stepped in to assist DJR with an immediate objective – to assist in ensuring they were at Adelaide.

“The team did a good job in ensuring we received commercial outcomes from the initial support we gave them.”

DJR Team Principal Dick Johnson said McMellan and the team at Wilson Security had been immensely supportive.

“We are working hard to repay the confidence they placed with us at the start of the season,” Johnson said.

“The cars have been freshened up and we have had some time after the AGP to work on a slicker presentation to give Wilson Security and all our partners a better package.”
