Pit lane was busy in Race One for the Dunlop Series at the Coates Hire Ipswich 360.

Championship leader Dale Wood made a clean start from ARMOR ALL Pole Position which saw him wrap up his second race win for 2013 and remain on top of the leaderboard.

World MotoGP Champion Casey Stoner wasn’t so lucky after contact with Geoff Emery saw the Dunlop Series debutant in almost the identical scenario he found himself three weeks ago in Townsville.

Qualifying his best of the year in seventh, Stoner suffered at the hands of bad luck after what could have been a promising start on his home track, to finish in 17th.

Emery was given a pit lane penalty for the contact with Stoner which saw the Red Bull Racing Australia driver spin out on lap three. Emery was awarded a second drive through pit lane after breeching the 40 kilometre speed limit through pit lane.

The Stewards also awarded Linde Material Handling/Enzed driver Cameron Waters a pit lane penalty after making contact with Rodney Jane’s number 777 Ford.

Eggleston’s Motorsport driver and son of six-time Bathurst Champion Larry Perkins, Jack Perkins showed consistency on track coming in second and mirroring qualifying results with two-time Dunlop Series Champion Steve Owen finishing in third.

Ipswich local and Matt Stone Racing driver Ash Walsh crossed the line in fourth followed by Daniel Gaunt, Taz Douglas, Andrew Jones, Nick McBride, Drew Russell and Andre Heimgartner rounding out the top 10.

The Dunlop Series will be on track tomorrow for Race Two – which is a reverse grid for the top 10 – and Three at the Coates Hire Ipswich 360.
