2014 DJR team revealed at Lakeside

V8 Supercars

One of team boss Dick Johnson’s greatest moments in Australian Touring Car racing was fought out at Queensland’s Lakeside circuit in 1981. He and Peter Brock staged a titanic struggle, in front of a capacity and vocal crowd filled with DJR fans.

Johnson took the 1981 Championship at the challenging track – so it was fitting the team returned to Lakeside today to unveil the 2014 Wilson Security Racing liveries.

The launch coincided with the teams first Ride Day of 2014, giving over 150 sponsors, partners and VIPs a taste of the FG Falcon V8 Supercars over the rollercoaster Lakeside layout.

Track time allowed new recruits Scott Pye and David Wall valuable running, giving them the chance to acclimatise with the car and team, just days before the first hit-out at the sydney.com V8 Supercars Test Day.

Johnson was surprised but pleased to see the FGs at his old hunting ground.

“To be honest, I did not think I would see our current cars pounding around Lakeside but let me tell you, this track gets your attention so it is good for the boys to come out here and really get to grips with the cars,” he said.

“Seat time is so important now, and although we don’t race here, it will get Scott and David very focused on the job next weekend in Sydney.

“Having Wilson Security and Payce on-board has allowed us to hit the ground running this year and we want to be on our game when we get to the Clipsal 500. The whole team is really fired up and we are ready to go!”

Pye and Wall were impressed with the cars, running under the watchful eye of the team’s sporting director Campbell Little.

Fans have the chance to see all 25 2014 V8 Supercars on-track at the sydney.com V8 Supercars Test Day this Saturday at Sydney Motorsport Park. The day is free for fans and includes two practice sessions and a grid walk amongst the cars.
