Lowndes again in Practice Two, three Kiwis in Top Ten

Craig Lowndes has topped the times for the second consecutive session, with 25 V8 Supercars separated by just 1.1 seconds at the Symmons Plains circuit.

Lowndes was positive after the day’s first practice session and continued his roll with a 51.305sec lap.

Nick Percat – driving a V8 Supercar at the circuit for the first time – was just 0.29sec behind in his newly coloured Heavy Haulage Australia Holden Commodore, with Michael Caruso’s Norton Nissan on his tail.

Jamie Whincup put the day’s early dramas behind him, recording the fourth best time. Russell Ingall, Fabian Coulthard, Scott Pye (Ford), Dale Wood, Scott McLaughlin (Volvo) and Shane van Gisbergen rounded out the top 10.

The Erebus Mercedes’ were the only manufacturer not to feature in the top 10, with Lee Holdsworth and Will Davison 16 and 17 respectively.

Others to note include Mark Winterbottom 11, Garth Tander 19 and David Reynolds 23.

A power steering failure meant Wilson Security DJR’s David Wall was in the garage for the majority of the session, but he managed 24th with a short run.

One more practice session is to come at 2.05pm AEDT, with qualifying tomorrow.
