Red Bull Racing Australia continues to feature at the top of the times, but it was Jamie Whincup who recorded the quickest run in the final practice session.

Whincup’s 51.33 second lap beat his teammate by 0.0597sec, though Craig Lowndes’ 51.305sec time recorded in the second session remains the day’s fastest around the 2.4km Symmons Plains circuit.

Young gun Chaz Mostert – who has suffered from extensive damage to his Falcon at the past two events – came home third in his Pepsi Max Ford.

Shane van Gisbergen, Scott McLaughlin (Volvo), Nick Percat, Fabian Coulthard, Scott Pye, Lee Holdsworth (Erebus Mercedes AMG) and Todd Kelly (Nissan) completed the top 10, ensuring all five manufacturers featured in that final run before tomorrow’s qualifying.

Qualifying will consist of two back-to-back 10-minute sessions, ensuring a dash for ARMOR ALL Pole Position, ahead of the two 100km races tomorrow, beginning at 11.30pm AEDT.

Others to note in that final session include Will Davison 14, Mark Winterbottom 16, Garth Tander 18, Jason Bright 21 and Clipsal 500 winner James Courtney 24.
