It’s looking more likely that in 18 months a New Zealand team on the V8 Supercars’ grid. The Herald on Sunday was at a soft launch yesterday at the ITM500 V8 Supercars at Pukekohe where Paul Radisich announced to a select group that plans were in motion for national V8SC team.
Radisich, spokesman for Super Black Racing (the possible new team’s name), outlined a basic architecture for a NZ team in the Australian V8 championship.
A number of committed backers want a Kiwi team back in the series and see it as a gateway for young drivers to make it into one of the most exciting V8 racing categories on the planet.
Former V8 Supercars driver, and two-time World Touring Car champion, Radisich spoke about the passion he has for the sport and how it would be great to have a race team Kiwi fans can get behind. He was at pains to stress that while nothing had been signed and sealed, it was very much work in progress and a confirmed announcement would be made in the near future.
Great idea but needs a lot of consultation before implementation.Commission the Stone Bro,s and dare I say it even David John. These guys have been there and done it so their imput would be worthwhile.
Huge call to do this again, not to mention the budget!!!!
Why don’t they throw some sponsorship money at the Stone’s Mercedes team with the inclusion of a third car with a young kiwi driver. The merc isn’t far of the pace and knowing the Stone’s track record of getting to the top it’s a no brainer.
It would be great to have Paul Radisich back. Good Luck!
