The BNT V8 SuperTourers have announced an intention to reduce their carbon footprint with a move to Gull Force 10 fuel from the start of this season.

“We have made the move to a 10% ethanol blended fuel this year in preparation for going to an 85% Ethanol blend in the future in partnership with Gull New Zealand, who blend their 98 Octane Force 10 fuel using ethanol produced as a by-product of the New Zealand milk industry” said the Executive Technical Director Mark Petch of V8 SuperTourers.

“Whilst we have been using a premium unleaded 98 octane pump fuel to date, we believe we need to do more to help dispel the public perception that motor racing is synonymous with loud noise and cars causing pollution. With the support of Gull Force 10, that is easily achievable for us.”

“Gull have taken significant steps to support Motorsport in promoting it’s ethanol based form of fuelling, and we have now too made the decision to lead mainstream motorsport on a path where we strive to become carbon neutral, significantly reducing exhaust gas pollution from racing, hopefully by 2015” he added.

Engine tuner and V8ST Technical Delegate David Heedegan said there were significant technical benefits to using Gull Force 10 for engines too. “I have been using ethanol-based fuels in Motorsport for some years now and recommended to the V8ST Board that we make the move to Gull Force 10 this year and then look at the possibility of E85 at some stage in the future. In my experience the engines will benefit from running at cooler temperatures, and be more resistant to detonation using Gull Force 10, and at the same time reducing carbon monoxide levels. This is a big plus for the environment and V8ST’s aims to lead by example in taking this initial step into cleaner greener fuels.”

Business Development Manager of Gull New Zealand Ulrik Olsen said: “We are very proud to be partnering with BNT V8SuperTourers in their long-term vision to move towards a cleaner form of racing. Users of our fuel will already know the mechanical and economical benefits of using Gull Force 10 and to have the fuel being used at the premier level of motor in racing New Zealand is a testament to our values for a cleaner, better form of fuelling for Kiwi motorists.”

Gull Force 10 fuel is available on pump at most Gull Stations throughout their North Island network.
