Jaguar to test Carroll and Evans once again for Formula E seats

Autosport

Adam Carroll and Mitch Evans will return to Formula E testing action for Jaguar at Donington Park next week.

The British manufacturer will use the final three-day test, which starts on Monday September 5, to help make a decision on its driver line-up for the 2016/17 FE season.

Jaguar insists no decision has been made on its final driver pairing, and is due to make an official announcement next Thursday, the day after testing concludes.

Carroll appeared on all three days of the first Donington test last week, while Evans joined fellow GP2 race winner Alex Lynn and Ford GT driver Harry Tincknell in completing just one day in the second Jaguar I-Type 1.

Evans was the quickest of the quartet in that test, though still lapped 1.6 seconds slower than Jean-Eric Vergne’s benchmark because Jaguar was not pursuing ultimate pace.

The New Zealander has been handed a bigger opportunity for next week, when he will join Carroll in running on all three days.

This will allow the Williams Advanced Engineering-run team to establish a baseline for all four of its cars ahead of the Hong Kong opener on October 9, having only run two of the race chassis last week.

Jaguar, which is ending a 12-year absence from major international motorsport by entering FE, is the only team yet to confirm its driver line-up for the 2016/17 season.
