Practice One kicked off the Chill Perth 360 this morning, with the bottom half of the field and rookie drivers hitting 2.42km Barbagallo Raceway.

Mid-way through the half hour session Fujitsu GRM’s Scott McLaughlin was quickest – his time of 56.6743sec stood for the remainder of the session.

Though McLaughlin sits 10th in the Championship, his rookie status allows him to participate in all of today’s sessions.

The Kiwi young gun said it felt good on track, and while a lead came off the car on his last Practice lap, it was a quick fix for the boys.

“It’s still early days but the car feels good straight away,” McLaughlin said.

“It’s a good start but there’s still a long way to go.”

He said they had run reasonable tyres – both soft and hard in the session.

“We’re there or thereabouts, so that will give us a good base.

“We’re talking about whether we’ll do pit stops or not – it’s going to be touch and go but we probably won’t know until tomorrow.”

McLaughlin was followed by Brad Jones Racing’s Wilson Security driver David Wall, and The Bottle-O Falcon of David Reynolds.

The three were the only drivers to break into the 56secs, with Dean Fiore fourth on the tally with a 57.0892sec.

Newcomer Chaz Mostert ended the session eighth, one position behind Scott Pye in his repaired Commodore.

Practice Two ihas just begun and includes all drivers.
