Kiwi Marcus Armstrong has finished 12th in his CIK-FIA KF class World Karting Championship debut in Italy.
The 15-year-old from Christchurch qualified 11th before finishing 10th in the Pre-Final and 12th in the Final.
The Final was won and 2015 KF title awarded to Karol Basz from Poland with Great Britain’s Jordan Lennox-Lamb second and Armstrong’s Tony Kart teammate Nicklas Nielsen third.
Armstrong was quick early on, setting the fastest lap in two of his heats, but was not able to convert that pace into a podium in the Final.
” We always had strong speed right from the first session,” he said this morning (NZ time), “but things didn’t come our way.
“It’s frustrating for me because we had potential for something good but we didn’t use it. However, I really enjoyed the weekend.
“The grip made things interesting and the racing was brutal! Just how the world champs should be!”
